The Department of Defense has identified 3,588 American service members who have died since the start of the Iraq war. It confirmed the deaths of the following Americans yesterday:

AHEARN, James M., 43, Maj., Army; California; 96th Civil Affairs Battalion, 95th Civil Affairs Brigade.

DAUGHERTY, Steven P., 28, Petty Officer First Class, Navy; Barstow, Calif.; East Coast Navy Seal Team.

KLINE, Keith A., 24, Sgt., Army; Oak Harbor, Ohio; 96th Civil Affairs Battalion, 95th Civil Affairs Brigade.

LEWIS, Jason D., 30, Petty Officer First Class, Navy; Brookfield, Conn.; East Coast Navy Seal Team.

McRILL, Robert R., 42, Petty Officer First Class, Navy; Lake Placid, Fla.; East Coast Navy Seal Team.

RING, Michelle R., 24, Specialist, Army; Martin, Tenn.; 92nd Military Police Battalion.
